From Victorians to 1940′s Evacuees, Unique Learning Experiences that bring subjects to life.

Bury Transport Museum and the railway offer an exciting range of programmes for schools, some offered in partnership with other local museums. These sessions can be tailored to fit the needs and interests of your group.

The dedicated education suite at the museum is accessible by lift and there are lifts to both display platforms. The main museum floor is cobbled. Teachers or group leaders are invited to contact the museum for a free pre-visit to assist with planning and risk assessments, and to discuss any access or learning requirements.

Just across the road from Bury Bolton Street Station lies Bury Transport Museum for those who have an appetite for more steam powered spectacles and vintage vehicles. Listen to stories and quirky facts about the museum’s collection with a free guided tour. Our volunteers, many of whom have been personally involved with the local transport for many years, are available to give talks about the various vehicles, objects and collections.

The guided tours are available by prior arrangement, and on selected event days (Heritage Open Day for example). Evening tours can be arranged (minimum numbers apply). Tours are free with museum admission so why not book a tour and explore?
