Heaton Park is a rich resource for learning activity of all types. The knowledgeable team of staff at Heaton Park are committed to developing a lifelong learning journey. Our education programmes cater for all ages and abilities. Our programmes feature national curriculum linked activities for primary KS1 and 2. Where possible our activities offer a hands on experience, following the principle that people learn much more by participation.

Breakout sessions in school holidays give children age 8 – 14 the chance to learn new skills while having fun, during the winter months there are astronomy sessions. Our vision is to provide a unique and creative experience to engage with the public to enhance their enjoyment of Heaton Park whilst teaching people to love and protect the park for future generations.

Farm Tour
The Farm and Animal Centre has a splendid collection of livestock and knowledgeable staff who care for them. The Wardens and livestock team will introduce the animals and talk about their life-cycles, care and seasonal husbandry. It provides an opportunity for you to get a close up behind–the-scenes look at farm and pet animals.
