The Beatles Story Liverpool
Since opening in 1990, the Beatles Story has developed its educational resources for all ages, earning a Quality Badge from the Learning Outside the Classroom initiative. Primary school groups are advised to book visits two months in advance to avoid disappointment. Late arrivals during busy periods may have reduced time in the exhibition and Discovery Zone.
The International Slavery Museum
The International Slavery Museum offers free, curriculum-based learning sessions for education and community groups of all ages, often led by staff. The museum explores both historical and contemporary aspects of slavery, highlighting the legacies of the slave trade and stories of bravery and rebellion. It welcomes groups of Early Years children from schools and nurseries to inspire conversation and creativity with its colorful and unusual objects. Visitors are encouraged to explore the museum gallery in their own way.
Knowsley Safari Park
At Knowsley Safari Park, learning and discovery are central, providing kids with exciting, interactive, and memorable experiences to connect with animals and conservation. Welcoming schools from tots to teens, the park ensures a fun and educational day out. With the National Curriculum allowing more creative teaching since January 2011, the park offers interactive resources for all subjects from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4. A session at Safari School enhances this educational adventure.
The Museum Of Liverpool
The Museum of Liverpool provides diverse educational opportunities for all ages. The Little Liverpool gallery offers a hands-on world for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children to create their own city. The Best Buildings activity inspires students to create collages based on iconic Liverpool buildings. The Let's Dig session allows students to act as archaeologists, excavating sites from different historical periods. The Watching & Waiting performance shares a true story from the First World War, followed by discussions and interactive activities.
Formby Beach
Formby offers stunning sea views, picnic spots in the sand dunes, and invigorating coastal walks, along with a rich coastal history linked to asparagus growing and early aviation. For educational experiences, activities include "Life from a Red Squirrel’s Perspective," "Woodland, Life & Me," "Strandline Investigations," and "Habitats" for Key Stage 1 and 2. Key Stage 2 and 3 can explore "Investigating the Coastline," while Key Stage 4 and above can participate in "Conservation and Management Walks."
Port Sunlight Museum
Port Sunlight Museum offers educational courses and resources for pre-school groups, schools, colleges, universities, and special needs students. There are three main visit options: self-guided visits with optional activity trails, museum-led workshops in the Learning Centre for up to 32 students lasting about 45 minutes, and guided or self-guided tours of Port Sunlight Village. Visitors can also explore the Port Sunlight Garden Village.
Space Port
Spaceport offers a unique educational experience about space, ideal for inspiring children with science. Teachers can receive complimentary tickets for pre-visits, and one teacher or supervisor goes free with every ten children. The facility covers difficult Key Stage 2 and 3 elements, providing a safe, controlled, and accessible environment. Additional benefits include free parking for coaches and free entry to the Wallace & Gromit Exhibition.
Speke Hall & Gardens
Speke Hall, a 16th-century timber-framed building with a Victorian interior, offers students an immersive experience in history, geography, science, technology, art, and tourism. Surrounded by formal gardens, woodlands, and an estate walk with views of the Mersey and Liverpool Airport, it features various educational programs, including customizable options. Highlights include exploring the gardens and woodland walks, joining costumed Victorian or Tudor guided tours, playing billiards, enjoying the playground, and solving the new hedge maze.
Merseyside Maritime Museum

The museum spans four floors with galleries exploring Liverpool's maritime legacy, including its role during the Second World War, life at sea with the merchant navy, and exhibits on the Titanic, Lusitania, and the Forgotten Empress. A notable addition is the Seized: Revenue and Customs Uncovered gallery, the national museum of HM Revenue & Customs, showcasing contraband seizures and archival material from across the country.
The World Of Glass
At The World of Glass, making learning enjoyable is a priority. Visits can be customized with handling, gallery, and craft sessions, including Victorian workshops where children can dress up.
